How it works
Share the groceries. Keep the rest to yourself.
Most budgeting apps make you choose between one shared account and none. Kanjō shares at the level of a category, so a household can keep one book together without either person handing over everything.
Four levels, and what each one is for
When you share a category you choose one of these. You can change it or take it back at any time, and the person is told what they have.

Everything outside a shared category stays yours alone. Sharing groceries does not reveal what you spent on anything else — there is no account-wide view for anyone but you.
Photograph the receipt
Take a picture and the amount, the merchant, the date and the line items are read off it. You check it and file it; the photo stays attached to the expense.
The image is sent to Mistral to be read, and nothing else. It is not used to train anything. That is stated in full on the privacy page rather than buried in a settings toggle.
Import the statement
Upload a PDF, a CSV export or a clear photo of a bank statement and the transactions are pulled out of it.
Each one is then matched against expenses you already entered, ranked by how close the date and amount are. Matching is a suggestion — nothing is reconciled until you agree, because a wrong automatic match corrupts a ledger quietly instead of failing loudly.
Re-importing the same statement is safe. Anything already imported is skipped rather than duplicated.
Keep it on both.
The web app and the iPhone app are the same ledger. Add an expense on your phone in a shop and it is on the web before you are home.
